The True North Woods® forest is located in the north-central region of the United States, centered on Minneapolis-Saint Paul, and stretches westward and southward from Lake Superior.
Three Forest Types
The three major forest types – boreal, central pines, and hardwoods – provide an opportunity to source a wide range of hardwood and softwood species in one location, an opportunity unique to Minnesota. The extreme cold weather produces close-grained and clear woods as well as rustic woods with high character, perfect for some of the most beautiful products available today. The primary hardwood and softwood wood species available from the environmentally and sustainably managed and harvested natural forests of Minnesota in clear, character, and special grades include:
