Northern Minnesota Forests
The forest is located in the north-central region of the United States, centered about 150 miles north of Minneapolis-Saint Paul, and stretches westward from Lake Superior.
The three major forest types – boreal, central pines, and hardwoods – provide an opportunity to source a wide range of hardwood and softwood species in one location, an opportunity unique to northern Minnesota. The extreme cold weather produces close-grained and clear woods, perfect for some of the most beautiful products available today. The high-quality True North Woods® certified products incorporate the beauty and character of these northern woods, the ethics of environmentally sustainable forests, and the strong character of our people.
