Primary Uses Flooring, cabinets, veneer, component parts, furniture, barrels, marine, outdoors, lumber, planking and bent parts for boats.
Traits Member of the white oak family; tight- and straight-grained; coarse texture; highly durable, decay resistant; heartwood rich brown; sapwood white to light brown. Highly durable and decay resistant. Impenetrable to liquids.
Availability Abundant in clear, character and high character (also called "cabin" or tavern" grades). Can be found quarter-sawn, although on a specialty basis.
