SUMMARY
The annual 'UpNorth' Arts & Crafts Show & Green Living Celebration is held on the third Saturday in September in Grand Rapids, MN from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
PRODUCT
Handcrafted, original works by regional artists and artisans from the bounty of our northern forests. The Midwest's premier juried show featuring 70-plus high-quality exhibitors. Works include a wide variety of products created from forest materials from original carvings to one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture, unique wood turnings to custom lake map carvings, decorative handcrafted boxes to flower-pounded art pillows, chip carvings to forest jewelry, beaded quill work to homemade Ojibwe faceless dolls, custom paneling and flooring to finely crafted canoes, rustic log benches and furniture to finely crafted guitars, artistic cutting boards to hand-painted fish and bird carvings, baskets woven from ash and reeds to walking sticks, wood art in sculpture to fine wood writing pens, handcrafted cedar jiggle sticks to birch twig wreathes, original woodcut prints to basswood honey, lake wood processed wild rice to bent willow furniture, and much more.
HISTORY
Goods from the Woods was organized in 2003 to enhance the stewardship of our native forests and to support the livelihoods of artists and artisans who work with materials from our northern forests. The show has been held each year and earned its reputation as a high-quality show of juried artists and artisans with an enthusiastic following or visitors from the Midwest region.
